Help, I have a 91 C-4 that is slowly driving me crazy. The problem is this, after the car is driven for a while, cold weather or hot weather, it simply will not start. Sometimes after 3-4 attempts the engine will turn over and kick off. When it is acting up, the engine does not turn over at all, all dash lights and guages come on, but no start. Then sometimes after waiting 20-30 minutes it immediately starts, no problem. I have replaced the clutch pedal position switch-relay( it is a 6-speed), a new starter, and ran out of ideas. Anyone out there had a similar problem??? Thanks, Don

Try the spare key my 86 did that and the spare worked for me.
In that car it was the VATS causing the problem. You might try and buy a new key the chip in the key is probably worn.
On my 91 with the erratic starting, I had a new key made by a local key shop (15.99). The problem seemed to go away for about 2 weeks and then returned!!Any other ideas??

Corvette America
VATS lock out. You might try a GM key from the dealer.
Its probably a security lock out.
Had same problem last year. Disconnected the battery for a minute to reset the Vats. Finally, shelled out $$ to replace the vats. Yesterday, she did it again. Now, I'm looking at the starter.

Try this with the headlites on crank the car if the lights go completely out its probably the battery.
