Default Tires

I have a 95 with 10,900 miles. The tires on it are the run flats which I don't care for. The ride with these tires beats the crap out of you. What tires are best for smooth comfortable ride? Where is best place to buy?

you'll probably get a million different answers, but i think if you go with any non-run flats they will provide a better ride and perhaps less noise. keep asking around for opinions, and once the Forum's archives are completely converted, invest some time and search through them for the countless old posts on tires.

i got Goodyear GS-D3's last year and they are quiet and stick pretty good compared to my old GSC's, but the treadwear rating is not the best. it sounds like you drive your Corvette mainly for cruising so i would not suggest my tires to you.

i bought two sets of tires from Tire Rack last year, and bought brake rotors from them last month. with three no-hassle purchases, you can say i'm quite happy with them. in general they have the most competitive prices on tires, but you must find a local installer unless you drive to their location in Indiana. they will ship directly to the installer. i am fortunate enough to have a race shop i trust nearby to do the install. Tire Rack is a Forum sponsor and you can go to their site via the "Tires" link on the left under "Corvette Store".

note: there is also a "Wheels and Tires" forum you can go to as well.

Sounds like good advice from the post of Tempest. I have used the
Tire Rack with great results. You do need a local tire shop for the
install.

Good advice from both guys.
The Tire Rack has a list of suggested installers that should cover just about any locality in the nation, so getting the tires mounted shouldn't be a problem.

My 95 has 32k miles on it so not too long ago I ditched the stock EMT tires for some goodyear eagle hp's, these tires make the rider MUCH better. I haven't yet been in a c4 that rides as good as mine with the good year eagle hp's so if your car is mainly a cruiser like mine look into them they still stick pretty good too!
