Default ac not working on c4?

im looking at a c4 and the ac doesnt work ,the inside digital controls seems to work so i think its just low on freon and i can fix most stuff myself but never worked on a vette ,so is there in things that would cost more or realy be a pain to fix on the ac compaired to other cars

When you say "seem to work", are the doors venting to the proper vent when selected? Is the compressor coming on when it should? Can you select hot or cold? If yes, then it *shouldn't* be a bad fix. But if it isnot working like it should vent-control wise, I would be prepared to spend some money and that should reflect in the sale price... Some Vette problems are actually pleasant to fix, but some.....well can be downright discouraging...buy smart so it doesn't kill it for ya...HTH

Good Luck..

Does it just come out of the defrost vents? This happens alot on C4's. The fix is simply popping off and looking under the passenger fuel rail cover. There's 3 vaccuum lines that come into a T-fitting. One is usually loose and squeezing it back together in the fitting will fix it and make it come out of all the vents.

Or is it just all broke?

I had a problem on my 92 a/c last year...
From one day to the other the a/c just failed : the compressor couldn't run anymore, I went for a diagnostic at GM and they told me that it would cost 1000 $ cause the condenser was u/s and it needed to be replaced.
I then decided to have an other diagnostic in an a/c specialist...result : a valve in the circuit (kind of a relief valve as far as I understood) was broken and stuck open, therefore all the freon went away...no chance thet the a/c worked.
They replaced the faulty item and I had to pay 130 $ (including the refill)...
That was a good move to see this guy.
