If I disconnect my battery cables to clean the connections, how much will need to be re-set, re-programmed, or could stop working. I'm trying to see if there is a bad connection or possibly a short somewhere in my electrical system but won't mess with it if it will likely cause me more problems that I can't fix myself..
I may be on a limb here but in a most non-technical way, disconnecting the battery will cause your ECM to lose some of its "learned" values. Radio presets will also be gone. Not sure about dash data in a 95 but I would guess it will go by-by. None of these are a big deal. ECM wil relearn within a few miles. Car may act a tad funky while it is going to school,so to speak. Dash averages will be computed anew but you will have to do the radio yourself.
Remove the neg. lead first, replace it last and you will be fine. You might want to first record the radio presets though.
If earlier than '96, the ECM will relearn the fuel trims shortly with average city driving; '96 ECM uses flash memort so doesn't "foreget" (like my X ).
