89 or 90 ? HELP

TODAY I LOOKED AT VETTE WITH A FOR SALE SIGN.
THE SIGN STATED 1989 CORVETTE. I TOOK DOWN THE VIN NO., CHECKED MY BLACK BOOK AND FOUND THAT THE 7TH DIGIT IN AN 89 IS 1 AND IN 90 IS 3.
ALSO THE 10TH CHARACTER CHANGED FROM K TO L.

CAN ANYONE HELP DETERMINE THE CORRECT YEAR AND ANY OTHER INFO FROM THE VIN?

THE VIN IS 1G1YY2385L5117744.

10th digit is the year.

Here is a easy way to see if it's a 89 or 90 ...if the interior has the fairly newer look then it is a 90...if it has the flat dash and all it's a 89.

this is correct. also as stated, look at the dash....the '89 is all digital, the '90 is a hybrid analog with digital speedo. if its being advertised as an '89, this is not correct.......which makes me really wonder

You can check with Carfax if it`s an 89 or 90 , but if you go there and check the Dash like the guys said you will know instantly what year it is !
I realy like the look of the later style dash :flag
