88 Shifter Console Rework
I posted on C4 Tech that I was fighting with a fuse problem because I changed bulbs in the dash and put in a recently purchased Shifter Console. After getting done, I decided to try to rework my old console and see just how bad it looked.
I washed it in the sink to make sure I got all the dirt. Sanded it with 2000 wet/dry to try to smooth out the 'worn' spots. I then wiped it with paint thinner and got after it with paint. The paint I used is Krylon Interior-Exterior Semi-Flat Black. One thing I forgot to mention, is that i taped over the 'pictures' on the console of the windows, mirror pointers, etc. After the first coat, I was a little disappointed because the 'worn' spots were still visable. I did a second coat, concentrating on the spots, and now it looks pretty good. Overall, I would not have a problem putting this in my car if I needed it.
