thought you may find this interesting. if i remember correctly you had your replica built by yourself appraised at quite a bit more than this didnt you?
I saw that car at Barrett Jackson 2 years ago I think it only brought about 28K.I was really disapointed,up close it looked kinda cheezy. When I was a kid I wanted that car so bad.I tried to talk to it be it wouldn't anwser.haha
Yes i've seen it and know the person personally who rebuilt it. I already own a fully functional replica, that car has been through hell and back, but it would be cool to say I own a piece of the show but i'm content with what I have. The price of my relica is approaching close to $185,000 in parts and labor. My stated cash value is appraised at $150,000 if it get stolen. I've tried to remove the "cheese" effects and in my case every display means something and every button does something...........now to get it under 10 secs.....
Kittmaster: I've seen your website, and I am very impressed. I am also not at all suprised to hear that the car being auctioned has lived a hard life. I remember seeing one of the original General Lee cars at a car show once. Now THAT was an abused car!
Okay, now the dumb question: wasn't KITT supposed to be powered by a jet turbine engine? How come on the show you would sometimes hear the car producing a jet-like sound, but then othetr times it would have a definite V8 rumble? That's always bothered me...

Just a dumbass guess as i was still a youngin when that show was out but i am pretty sure i remember it being "turbo charged" perhaps the whinning you would occasionally hear was supposed to be massivly big turbos on an already healthy V8? that would explain both sounds. like i said. i havent seen the show in forever so i cant really say. maybe i can rent or download some episodes.... hmmmmm
