Default Door alignment question.

I noticed the passenger door on my '86 has a bit wider gap between the door of the fender than the driver's door. The drivers door is flush with the fender while the passenger door seems to be "set back" approx 1/8" and not flush with the fender. It's a small difference, but I'd like to correct it before it gets worse. Rather than make the drivers door out of alignment to match, how can I get the passenger door back into align?

Not sure I follow you. Do you mean at the front or rear of the door? The rear fit is more crucial than the front. If it's the front, how does it mate to the hood? That "fender" panel in front of the door, behind the wheel, is easier to move. Maybe that's all you need to do. Ya know, you're suppose to take the one on the driver side off to remove the battery. I'd say that the one on the passenger side is just as easy to move around. Just my $0.02

Well, the misalignment is at the front of the passenger door where it meets up with the hood. Oddly enough the lower part of the door matches nicely with that lower panel (what would be the right side equivalent of the battery access panel). But there is a definite gap betweet the door and the hood. It looks also like there is an uneven gap between the hood and the lower panels running the entire length of the hood on the right side, narrower at the front and progressing wider as you go towards the rear of the hood - not a huge gap, but enough that when I look at both sides and compare how they look, the passenger door front above the molding looks almost "recessed" approx 1/8". The pass door opens/closes fine, but in the world or an "**** owner" the gap is obvious.

Is the door in fact recessed? That would be a little wierd. I'm guessin' it's your hood that's out. Can you push down on the hood and lessen the gap you're talkin about? If so, you can adjust the latch on the hood on that side. Just look at it and you'll see. Makes the pin longer or shorter. Just don't leave any tools under the hood when you drop it to test it.
