Well, luckily the Vette was in side the garage, but we had two cars egged. I searched the net and found 10000001 egg removal tips, but from your experience, what is the best way to remove egg from the car? I used quick detailer and hot water, but it was extremely hard working at night.
The most important thing is to get off as quick as possible, espeically before it sits in the hot sun. Its sounds like you were lucky and caught it soon after the incident, and a night, so you should be in pretty shape. Soup and water to get it off and I'd make sure I put a good polish/wax on afterwards. Egg, like many other things, will eat through any wax/polish you've been using and can start ruining your clear coat/paint within hours.
I couldnt tell you the best way...but I can tell you the most important factor is time. Few years ago I was at this girls house, it was a hot summer day. Im right in the middle of knocking the bottom out of it when my alarm starts going off. I stopped , looked out the window , didnt see anything. I reset my alarm and went back to bangin the girl Later that afternoon Im leaving and as I get out to the drivers side of my car I see egg... 3 of them actually. Running down the side of the door, the rear quarter and the windsheild pillar. I washed the stuff off right away but by then it was dry and crusty...I have since sold the car but I could always tell where those eggs had hit then ran down the side.
In high school, a friends trans-am was egged. Luckily he washed off the mess right away, and used some meguiars compound to remove the film.
My integra belonged to a forum member and was egged badly. I used the clay bar to remove the heavy scum, then buffed it with some 39009 at high speed on the rotary buffer. It probably sat a bit too long, but it takes some heavy looking to notice where it was.
Lastly, why would people do this to someone's car?
What people dont know is that when an egg hits a car,it leaves a pattern imbedded in the paint when the egg explodes, scratching the paint.I found this out when my black Corvette got egged.
