Default What Exhaust

Hey guys wondering... anyone know what exhaust on my 89 C4 would sound really nice? And where can I get it. The pipes on it now are nice but I want something louder and throaty not raspy. I was considering borla. Anyone have feedback from their cat-backs? Lemme know!

BTW of my new car are comming soon. Car is still in the garage at my dads house, I'm leaving it there until the new chrome ZR1 wheels come in . I'm 20 miles from my babe but, I'm picking it up early next week!

I think Borla sounds like total CR@P , esp. on C4 automatics (if yours is)

I have used flowmasters on my 1989 auto coupe since 1989 (one of the very first sets made )
I would also consider Magnaflows or walker ultra flow, as those have a powerful sound

Any specific series in mind? I was thinking the loudest one (40 series) and unforunately I can't find any Sound Clips.

While im at it...

I have 2.59's in my car. I wanted to bump them up to something along the lines of 3.09 or higher wouldn't mind 3.73s or 4.10s. What would be best for it? And if you could put up some prices/links. Incase you need the specs 89 Convertible Automatic.

I'm running Magnaflows on my '86 and they sound and look awesome. I can email pics to you if you want. Let me know. I bought them at a local speed shop but many Forum members have bought them from Performance Peddler. This link will give you his number and all you do is tell him you are a Corvette Forum member and you get a huge discount.

Yea I'm still trying to find a sound clip for the magnaflows or flowmasters on a L98. My friend has magnaflows them on his 97 Camaro Z28 (lt1) but im not to fond of them. They look excellent however the sound was "meh". Im hoping/thinking it will be somewhat different on a L98. If anyone else has sound clips or feedback please post!

Just put Cosra cat back on mine, sound is awesome - nice and mellow until you drop the hammer, then all hell breaks loose. Nice 2.75 inch system but make sure you weld it - stainless steel does funny things from heating and cooling.

I've got the Billy Boat Stainless on my 89 6 speed. They look great
and are loud and low toned. You certainly need an better radio than the
Bose to hear over the growl.

I would have to disagree about the flowmasters. They are just not my favorite. I love Borla. When I took them to be welded at the muffler shop, they were all very impressed with the sound and quality. See my website in the sig for more pics.

Nothing sounds as good as flowmaster on a v8 IMO. The tips like most aftermarket exhaust doesn't look as good at the stock square tips IMO though.

Flowmasters Ive had them on my Stang,Z28 and my 89
coupe(on car when I got it). There are other good sounding systems
out there but everybody has different tastes. Listen to different
sound clips, go to a few car shows and listen to the various systems.
Thats what I did. I never liked doing homework but that research
I enjoyed

Magnaflow cat-back from Performance Peddler. Very nice looking SS system, and good sound.

I have Borla, the sound is a matter of opinion.
I pulled into a gas station a few weeks ago, the kid pumping gas said, "What do you have Borlas?, they are awsome."

Some times I like the way they sound, sometimes I don't.

They always look good.

B&B Triflo 3"...they look the best IMO.

And they make your V8 sound great, not like a mustang (which I think those tinny flowmasters sound like). Flow masters remind me of high school days!!

I have Borla on my 89 automatic convertible. I think they look better than any of the others, but some of the others have better sound. Resonance with the top up is annoying but I guess that would be similar with any of the others. I've heard if you add a cross pipe it will improve resonance. I don't think there is any measureable performance difference in the aftermarket mufflers (assuming everything else is equal), its just preference of sound + looks.

How about just getting rid of the mufflers?
