Default The Bose Stereo

I bought a '91 ZR-1 last saturday. The two left speakers did not work. I bought the correct amps from Ecklers and installed them today. All speakers are working now.

I have heard people say that they don't like the Bose system, but I have to admit I am very satisfied with the sound. Just got back from a drive listening to AC/DC Back In Black...Awsome sounding for a stock stereo.

Have a great weekend!

My 92 Bose is great. It even thumps pretty good, but not like my son's Blazer with 4 12" speakers pumped by a huge amp that requires it's own nuke power plant to run. BTW, Hewy Lewis' Working for a Living, sounds great while cruising with the top down. (Just got back )

The Blose sounds OK, I guess. I sold mine on Ebay when the speakers started to pop and with the money I brought in I put in a system that soundsway better

The Bose in my 90 sounded pretty good until first the LF amp went then the RF. Right now I have only rears working and they are probably going to die soon. Bose sounds good but reliability is pretty poor. I am not going to fix it but I am going to replace it.

I really like mine too, of course I just got to listen to the CD today for the first time after over 3 years since I got the Vette.

CD was broke when I bought it and I just got mine back from Dr. Don's this morning. These folks are great if you need service. I shipped it to him overnight, he got it Friday am, repaired and upgraded the CD mechanism to a newer CDR, cleaned and serviced it and had it back out the same afternoon overnight delivery. Awesome people there. And advantage of the newer mechanism is a finer laser and better oversampling so no skips without instant recovery.

First CD in was the new Van Halen disc. Awesome!!!

Oh I also installed all new console, radio and driver door trim. She's like brand new inside. Thank the Lord what an excellent day.

knock on wood Mine hasn't had any troubles at all and to me it sounds great but I am not one of those that you would call a music buff. The best sounds that I hear are the engine, tires and exhaust when I am driving the vette...

I was actually quite suprised that the Bose stereos are nicely balanced units. They may not sound as "good" to some people because they do not emphasize the bottom end of the frequency range just like some aftermarket stereos. In today's culture, music is essentially bottom-heavy and not well-balanced. I am sure that in about 20 years, we will be looking back at some of this music wondering "what the hell were we thinking?!"

I like the Bose in my car. Hasn't started to act up yet. Sound is pretty good for a stock unit. I sell cars at a dealership, so i get to hear all kinds of factory stereos. And Bose systems in other cars like Acuras and Mercedes, don't sound nearly as good.

good luck with my bose so far.kinda like how its pretty well dialed in with all controls set to center.i prefer ***** over push buttons anyday.
mine sounds good even at full volume,no distortion.
i also really like the speed sensitve volume.nice to pull up to an intersection and have the volume drop down.you dont think about it until you drive something that doesnt do that.then its "what?gotta turn the volume down?how lame is that?
the bose was ahead of its time for sure and still is quite adequit(sp) unless your really into audio gear.
i wouldnt mind having more thump, and will put something newer in probly soon.mainly because the bose is what it is.no outputs to add amps or subs or anything.not adaptable in any way...
still pretty darn impressive for a stock car radio.

i despise bose, and have no respect for a company who sells their wares in strip malls and men's magazines. the audio quality is, well i guess its barely adequate. that being said, i've pretty much rendered mine obsolete since my mods have been installed

I bought my 95 model last year, and I too like the bose system. It has not given me any trouble and sounds good enough that my wife is always saying turn it down!!!

Go Figure!!
