Check the glove box or the rear compartment the code is as you know G92. If it is a stick car it will be different.

Check for the RPO sheet in one of the rear compartments. Also check for RPO G44 as well as G92.

Otherwise, just tell us what rpm you're turning at freeway speeds

DAVSKAR and JSA 007 are correct. G92 was fairly rare in 1984 - about 9% of A4s, if I'm reading my stats correctly. Percentages edged up over the L98 years -

1985: 18% of A4s
1986: 17%
1987: 28%
1988: 24%
1989: 46%
1990: 60%
1991: 23%

I have a bunch of 3 letter combos but nothing starting with a "G"... bummer.

Help me more experienced C4 folks: is the C4 like the C5 in that all manuals get a relatively high axle ratio as standard but automatic folks have to order an optional ratio to get the fast ratio?

My knowledge is spotty but generally speaking, I believe you're correct. With the 84s, I think both the manual and ATs had 3.07s, and ALL were Dana 36s. The 84 performance axle was a 3.31 which I was told was only potentially available with the Z51 option. Apparently, the Z51 normally came with 3.07s wich is why the Dana 36 3.31s are so rare (only 410 ordered according to CAC)

Sure! One other thing I forgot to mention. As far as the manuals having relatively higher axle ratios, the 85-88s I think only had 3.07s....
