It was no problem getting the bolt in place, only problem is that the car isent getting any lower, infact its 1/4" higher now than before now.
I have only installed the lowering bolt on the right side yet, does that make a different?
I have tried to tighten to nut alle the way up the bolt, and also to just barely have it screwed on...whivh is right?
Well, in short, you have to remove the front spring, cut off the shims that are glued to the spring, then glue thinner ones on. Put it back to gether and get an alighnment done.
Where on the bolt is the nut to be placed, if you want maximum lowering?
Just at the end of the bolt?, or screw it all the way up on the bolt?
Hope you understand my question? Im really confused about this, since nothing happens...
At the bottom end for max lowering.
But really, the thing wont' settle any lower till you drive it.
When you just lower it off the jacks it sets real high until dirven.
Ok, thanks......I will do both sides later then, and then drive it a bit.
If I put the nut at the very bottom of the bolt, what will the lowering be? ( its ecklers 10" bolts)... any experience?
Zinc bolts from the local hardware store were used to do mine ... same thing only cost a lot less ($2.50 a piece). As other's have said (in other words) you need think in reverse -- the more you tighten the nut on the bolt (i.e. the closer the nut is to the head of the bolt) the higher the Vette will sit; the lowest (safest) point given the bolts you are using should be when the nut is flush with the threaded end of the bolt (furthest away from the bolt head). Mine are little longer those sold by Ecklers & MAD so I could tighten the bolt to where a couple of threads are showing and still get lowering effect I wanted.
I dont know if my front is lowered, I think it looks real low, and I love it where it is.
But cant i just lower the rear to I like the look? Or what is it that i have to make sure of, and messure?......
Yes you can lower just the rear to get the look you want. All you really need to watch for is to make sure your fenders/wheel wells aren't so low they will hit on your tires if you hit a bump.
