Could be just a little condensation in your exhaust.

Are you sure it is white? Even though my 87 only has 42,000 on it I had to replace the valve seals. They were very dried out and cracked as I removed them. This caused an embarassing discharge of smoke upon startup after it had set for a while.
Good luck!
If you use 5W or 10W - 20 or 30W oil switch to 30 or 40 weight, esp if your car has >75 K miles. That'll help with the knock sound when cold and if it's blue smoke, not condensation, it'll slow oil seepage around "O" rings when not in use. I don't think there's any advantage to using multi grade oils in higher mileage cars, especially in warmer climates such as Fla. Bill
