Default Long Term Storage

I have orders to Naples Italy and will be leaving my 2000 coupe in a relative's garage (possibly as long as 3 years). Looking for some suggestions/lessons learned about long term storage. Disconnect/remove battery?; put up on jack stands and remove tires?; dehumidifiers?; gas stabilizer?; tank full or empty?; etc. I'm sure that there are bunch of other things that I'm missing. HELP!!!

the drier the better. you can throw some silica packets in the car to help absorb the moisture. i would go full tank with stabil, but check how long that it's good for. if worse, you might just want to drain the tank rather then run it out when you return. i would put it up on stands, but put a load on the suspension, not the frame, you don't want your suspension to hang. 3 years is a long time, not sure how all the fluids will be, it might be good to have someone put some miles on it during the summer to keep stuff lubricated.

The boat shops sell "stay-dry" kits that absorb moisture. You also need to have some kind of rodent protection. Home Depot sells an electronic bug/rodent repel thingie that I use in my garage. Why not sell it and get yourself a used C6 when you return?

This is what I do for winter storage take what you like:

1. Keep in the garage.
2. Change oil and filter (Mobile 1).
3. Wash and clean car, detail car including rubber, and wheel wells.
4. Check anti-freeze protection.
5. Clean garage where it's stored and put down plastic as a moisture barrier under the entire car including the tires maybe put some down wood down also under the tires some guys way up north do.
6. Put on a good car cover on. (I use Max Tech), but whatever you like. Don't put anything on top of the car!
7. Disconnect the negative side of the battery. Charge up the battery. maybe out a battery tender on!
8. Don't start the car until you are ready to run it! I do not recommend running the engine because a warm engine creates water condensation when it cools down. But if you do start the car make sure it is at normal operating temperature before shutting it off.
9. I always put Stabil in to a full tank of gas run it to get through the fuel system. I do this for all my stored engines. Last up to 15 to 20 months only could be a problem for you.
10. Inflate tires to 5 lbs. over proper pressure.
11. I cover the exhaust pipes so nothing gets in there.
You can put in some moth ***** or Irish Spring or cedar for those little guys and some moisture protection bags in there.
12.You could remove your plugs and put some fogging oil or oil in so there's no rust.

If you remove the battery, put it on some wood. Don't put it on concrete!

**How about the insurance? Just need fire and theft? Why pay for more than what you need? Save yourself a bundle for your safe return!**

I do this for 6 month storage check here also.
