Default 88 Cigarette Lighter replacement

Just realized that my cigarette lighter doesn't work......had the car for a year, don't smoke, but would like to plug in my GTECH PRO.....
can't. Can't find a replacement ANYWHERE.....Mid-America, nor Ecklers.....

Anyone? Simple replacement, I am guessing....take the console
apart and hook a power and ground.......????

Where can I find one??

I have a cigarette lighter I pulled out of one of my parts cars, but I don't have the housing, so that probably won't help much, but I believe there is a fuse that controls just the cigarette lighter (maybe something else too, not sure) make sure you don't have a blown fuse. 9 times out of 10 that will fix the problem.

You should always look on Ebay for that kind of stuff.

Also, it might not be the lighter.
If I recall right, when I installed my new console plate, there is a connection under the console plate to the lighter. If that is not making contact the lighter won't work.

That's another thing to check before you replace the one you got.

I got one from O'reilly and it works fine. I did discover there is a fuse (Blue I think) that controls the lighter and the interior lights. So, if you lights come on when you open the door, it is not the fuse.

Since you are going to have the console off anyway, why don't you replace the bulb for your shifter. I also used an orange paint and did the shift indicator (faded) when I had mine off. Sure looks good now.

Yep you will need to pull the console top to access the cig lighter.

If needed, you may be able to get one at Contemporary Corvette; don't try one of the "universals".

You can buy replacement lighter shells at just about any good auto parts store. I installed one in the console box in my 85 to charge my cell phone. That way I don't have to leave the cupholder door open all the time. I just tapped into the circuit for the console box light. Piece of cake.

Those things are pretty tough. I'd check the fuse and make sure wires are hooked up before I bought another one.

Walmart. I bought a generic replacement for $4. Installed it and it fit and works fine.
