My 87 Coupe does not have ABS. It was removed some time ago because the replacement was too expensive. I have rebuilt front calipers (from Corvette Central) and OEM pads. The master cylinder is 2 years old, the front discs are 4 years old.
My problem is that when I hit the brakes hard, the front right wheel locks up.
Both front brake hoses are new. Also, when the brakes are hot, the front right pads squeal like a stuck pig.
Before I take anything apart, what may be causig this condition? Wheel bearings?
Thank you.
Sounds like calipers are hanging up. Clean up the calipers and wire brush any slide pins and use good anti-sieze on them and see if that helps. If not, you probably should replace both front calipers.
