i saw a kit a week ago or so that converts our vettes to look just like c5's. there are some noticable features that tell you its not but not to the untrained eye [woman] its only about 2 k for the kit and the lights. go to www.c5west.com what do you all think.
i think if i wanted a c5 i would have bought one, i dont understand why you would buy a c4 and drop hella money into it to turn it into a c5, which would end up costing more than just buying the c5 in the first place. 2k for the kits and lights plus another 3 or 4 grands for paint, prep and proper fitment. Turning a fiero into a lambo is one thing, but turning a c4 into a c5 is flat out stupid.

I think its a sin.
Now, I wonder if I could convert my C4 to a C2.....I could tell everyone I have a 67 3 Deuce Air car
It's poser. I've never understood making something look like something it's not. It's like qubic zirconia instead of a diamond or a "showlex" watch with timex guts. Almost as bad as putting a ZR1 emblem on a L98 coupe. Just my opinion
N1kki6 pretty well nailed the true cost of conversion. Expect $5k by the time it's done right.
It's not as ugly as I expected, fairly good looking actually. But then you would have neither a C4 or a C5, just something that looks like a nice kit car.
Plus you won't have picked up any of the real advantages of a C5, like interior space, luggage space or better chassis structure.
However, if you like it and want to spend the $5k, go for it. A car is blank canvas waiting for it's owner to express herself.
You need to see one in person....IT IS A CRIME. Seriously, they look terrible. Whatever value the poor C-4 donor had is completely lost, and you end up with a car that could only be sold to the Braille Institute, or someone who has been locked in a closet their whole life.
I don't think it looks very good. The only upgrade I would concider is changing the bumpers on my 90 to look like 91 or newer. Probably will never do that either however.

I wouldn't do that in a million years. First of all, the money that it would cost and the work it would take wouldn't be worth it. Those kits don't just magically line up. They take tons of work and if they are not done perfectly they look like crap. You are looking at over $6000 and hours and hours of time just to have to explain yourself to every corvette owner around. I spend enough time telling corvette guys that mine is a 90. I've been asked at least a dozen times if it's a 96 because it has the bumper upgrades. That I would recommend to update the look because it is easier to do then a body kit. Even still, with the paint and all that's involved it is expensive and required fiberglass work to get it to line up right. Those kits look cheap of not done by a professional that really knows what he's doing. There are plenty of upgrades that can be done to a C4 that look great. To each their own though but I wouldn't recommend it. The C4 owners will look at it like you ruined a perfectly good corvette and the C5 owners will laugh at it because you are trying to be like them. I'm not saying it couldn't be done right but it would cost almost as much as an older C5 by the time you got done with it and the performance would still be that of a C4. Be proud of what you have!
I saw a 92 once that pulled off it's C5 guise till I saw under the hood. The owner had hand-fabbed the whole shebang and it looked pretty much like a c5 with a supercharged LT-1 underhood...
i would not do it tho, it is like taking a big pile of ****, painting it gold, sprinkling diamonds on it, and putting it in a display case.... at the end of the day you got a pile of ****.
