I have some left over sound deadening material called Fat Mat. It is much like Dynamat from what I can tell. Can this type of product (kind of like an asphalt kind of stuff) be used safely for sound deadening on a fiberglass body like the Corvette has? I don't want to apply this if it will in any way have a negative impact on the body. Anyone know for sure?
If this is not recommended, what is good to use for sound deadening on the Vette? I will be replacing the carpet this winter and need to plan on the materials needed. Thanks!
Brad
can't help too much, but someone posted a while back who used the materials on his car, fairly extensively. there were a few others who posted over the last few years who did just their doors. (i only check the C4 posts regularly though.)
i don't ever remember seeing a negative post regarding the materials or adhesives screwing up their car.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies. I've been off the net for a few days. I was worried that this stuff might attack the fiberglass and weaken it. Don't want any strange chemical reactions taking place.
I have had not problems with Fat Mat. It did have a slight odor at first but it quickly went away. Did the entire floor of my Firebird. It did ok, but I had hoped for more sound cancellation from it.
