Default Digi Dash Ground Wire? Pic

Everyone says to check my ground wire by the door. Is this the one being talked about? I have noticed others asking about where it is so if I am right then here is a pic

Just curious, where is this ground exactly, I have an 88 as well. It looks well hidden . May be helpful one day if I know where this is.

Yeah that's the ground... I've gone through every one trying to solve the cluster problem in my 85. That one is on the driver's door pillar, where the door sill ends right below the hush panel... That ground also effects the DIC... excellent work getting a pic of it

Since I have decided that as I am getting older, I MUST be getting dumber, that I will take pics of anything I am not sure of and post when I find it. I tried shaking to see if it was loose and it seems very firm. In the mag article on DD it recommends running a ground from the Ambient Over-ride sensor (black/white) wire to a seperate ground. I guess that is my next thing to try. If it works, I will post pics.

This should be in C4 Tech not here. Could a mod move it? Thanks, Jon

being loose may be a problem... however if it is corroded (from any number of reasons) that could be just as worse as being loose

I really think I have another problem. I tried the Corvette mag trick of running another ground off of the Ambient override sensor and still no luck. I also removed the mirror and checked the little dash light and it worked, along with the map lights. I then went to the car and, using a multi-meter, turned on the key and checked for voltage for the map lights, 12v. I then turned on the lights and check for the illum light, 0v.

I am beginning to wonder if the headlight switch is bad. My DD works fine till I turn the lights on. Nothing that is supposed to lightup, wiper light, DIC, even the gearshift indicator light doesn't work. I pulled the 10a fuse and checked to see if stray voltage was running thru it and there was none.

I am completely lost at this point. I think I will just clean the house and wait till tomorrow before I try again. My frustration factor is getting out of hand.

After how many days, I finally found my problem. There is a stinking 3a fuse labeled 'INST' that I just found and changed. Guess what, my lights work. I hate the obvious!

To all that tried to help, Thanks. At least I was forced to take some pics under the dash, that I posted in C4 Tech.
