Default 96 Production # Question

Just checked out the RPO codes on my '96 Black LT4 Corvette. Just got it less than two weeks ago. Much to my surprise it has the spare tire delete. So I'm wondering if anyone knows how many '96 LT4 cars had the spare tire delete? I think 986 total were produced with the spare delete, but how many of those were LT4's? Wondering if this a rare and or desireable option. Thanks.

Hard to tell how many black LT4's have that option I would think. The CE Registry site (now dead) used to have a nice rpo-color breakdown. I wouldn't think it to be a "desirable" option, but it was a $100 option - I guess for the brace used in the tire's place.

"desireable option"

I would get a spare tire setup if I were you. My 95 came with the EMT tires but it still has a spare on it so I didn't have to buy the rough riding EMT tires when I put new ones on. So if you don't have EMT and have a flat your're screwed...I don't know about others with this option but I would certainly put a spare on it, only adds what like 20lbs?

I know some of the members carry some fixa flat but I wouldn't want that on my rims besides that would only help with a slow leak.

Also the spare tires system is part of the c4 making a safer car when hit in the rear. So, it's not considered a wanted option really.

It just comes down to estimates based on production numbers.

21,536 total production for MY96.
1,869 had the Z-51 package, which S.T.D. was not available.
So that leaves 19,667 eligable for S.T.D.
Of those, 986 had the S.T.D., or 5.01%
5.01% of 6,359 LT-4s produced = 319
Z-51s accounted for 11.52% of total production.
11.52% of the 6,359 LT-4s = 733
That leaves 5,626 LT-4s eligable for S.T.D.
5.01% of 5,626 = 281
Key word; estimate

BTW, spare tire delete was a $100.00 credit.

I checked under the car and the spare is there. The car also has eagle GS-C's all around(non run-flat). I noticed a jack in it's proper place before buying the car. But it has RPO codes N84(S.T.D.) and WY4, XFR, and YF3. The last three are E.M.T. run-flat codes. So I assume a previous owner put a spare tire and jack in the car. Thanks for the help guys. Especially Z-07 freak for the breakdown, very helpful.
