There was a post similar to this one ealier this year and someone posted a website that had a 'universal' HUD system that you could aquire for your vette. Seemed pretty sweet but at the same time wouldnt want a box that sticks out on my dash.

LPE sells a universal kit... I started a thread last year about it but nobody seemed interested.
Just went to the web site and couldn't find it. I guess they don't sell it anymore. I think the kit cost 175? or 275...

I have a older version of the HUD make by DEFI, which is the same company that makes the C5 HUD.

This basic unit can show tach or speed, and is just as accurate as the factory guages. It is visible even in bright sun light, except under some glare.
However, this is a simple unit. The numbers are 'focused' at the plane of the windshield. Thus you do have to refocus your eyes to read it. This is unlike the C5 HUD, where the numbers are focused in such a manner that your eyes do not have to refocus.
I used to have pictures posted, but the home page part of this forum is messed up.
THey have a really cool new system that can display just about everything you could want, but boy, is is pricey!

The base system of controller and display is way over $400, and when you start adding sensors it just up.
