what kinda oil have you used in it. they say that makes all the differance. also do you change your tranny and gear on a timly schedual. we can learn from you before its to late.
At 100K miles I began to get that typical GM rod slap so I changed to Mobil1 10W-30 oil. I change it every 5,000 miles. (I drive 100 miles a day so there are lots of highway miles in there...) That rod slap has never gotten any louder BTW. I change the trans fluid once a year at race time! I usually run the car at Vintage Thunder and the Capital All Corvette Events. VT is in June and Capital was this past Sunday. (Ran 14.25 @! 96 MPH and cut a bad light in the final elimination round...) I have a trans cooler and disconnect the hoses and pump the fluid out three quarts at a time until I cycle 12 quarts through it. All the fluid gets flushed that way. I change the rear end fluid every two years.
The trans and rear have been rebuilt, every sensor in the car has been changed at least once, I've replaced the alternator, water pump, starter and smog pump and only put the Z-Chains on when the snow is over 6" and I have to get home... (Yes, really...)
Thanks for all the nice comments! She'll have 330K for next year's Carlisle!
