Default Bose Stereo Issue

Hi,

I am posting this question for a friend. Has anyone had an issue with the bose factory setup "crackiling" while the car is in motion? The radio and CD both do this, but play clearly when the vehicle is stopped. I am guessing that it is a loose connection, but I was curious if anyone else has dealt with this. It is a 96 Coupe.

Thanks,
John

Not a loose connection... Re-post this in the Audio/Electronics section (Forums --> General Corvette --> Audio/Elec). The Bose is notorious for doing this - it's either the headunit itself, or the amp.

one possibility (of many) is the Bose amp grounds at the speakers are bad. a bad ground makes it easier for an audio circuit to pick up noise.

you'll probably have to give some more details, like if the noise changes pitch or frequency with engine speed or vehicle speed.

It might be the SCV (speed compensated volume) switch. Try turning it to the off position and see if it helps. Note: this is a serious SWAG.

I would look into a loose connection or ground. If it was an amp it would probably do it all the time.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help. The pitch and frequency seem to be independent of vehicle speed. It only does this when the car is in motion. If you roll up to a traffic light, the stereo operates normally while you are waiting for the light to change.
