I am sure it is the VATS but just would like som advise before I have a bypass overnighted. This is actually in Melissa's 95 camaro. Ecklers said the bypass will work on a Camaro.
Car will not start.
Security Light is solid...no blinking.
When you turn the key to run you get power to everything.
When you turn key to start, You her 1 click, under the dash..and traction control light goes off.
Starter, battery, and alternator are all good/new.
Have tried manually locking and unlocking door as this works on some vehicles.
I would first try another set of keys (like you wouldn't have done that already). Next, try to clean the key and the lock cylinder with an electrical contact cleaner. Could be either one is dirty or coated with an oil film. Make sure you give the system enough time to reset between attempts.
Disconnect the battery and wait one minute. Reconnect the battery. Then if it fails it is probably the VATS. You can connect a resistor across the wires at the bottom of the steering column inside the car and solve the problem.
