hi guys, i pretty sure ive blown my dana 36, im getting very bad crunching sounds when im in gear, the car jerks forward as if there is chunks of metal getting caught in the teeth. now the ratio thats in it now is in the 2's would it be better for me to buy the gears and get them replaced, or buy a second hand replacment diff? NOTE i will be taking the diff out and putting it back in. the reason i say this is that i want 3:73 ratio and they are not easy to find. Any info will be great thanks.
If you are dealing with basically stock 84 you can go with 3:73 gears but when I changed mine to 3:73 I had to also get a new housing for my spider gears to make it fit. But I have a 90 so I am not sure if this will apply to yours. If you plan on doing some future mods for horsepower you may want to stay a step ahead of yourself and put in a dana 44 rear, you won't regret it!
Also if you can't find the parts try contacting Summit racing parts tech department they will advise you what you need and if they ship to your country!
