Step up to the Delta Flow Premium muffler for $189. They sound much much better and no you can just use your stock Y pipe no problem. I had the base 50 series and they were too loud in the cabin and had a bad sound at wide open

I was told by many to get the Dynamax, for a better tone and no noise in the car at hyway speeds.

the flowmaster delta's (40 or 50 series) seems popular on the forum... I've never heard them myself though...

The Flowmaster 50 series sound wicked on the ZR1 with long tube headers, 3" x-pipe directly behind the headers, and no cats. Later,84 CF 91 ZR1

Good looking car Alcee1. I have the 60 series that comes with the LT cat back. Too quiet and no resonance.

I had the 40 Series on my LT4. Sounded great, but the resonance on the highway was so loud, you could hardly hear the radio at full blast. I just switched to the 50 Series Delta and it still has the same powerful, agressive growl under (hard) acceleration , but the highway resonance has all but disappeared. But a lot of that can depend on the cars and any mods made to it. I've heard LT1s and L98s with the 40 Deltas, and the owners swear by them.

When I was thinking of switching, I got quotes to switch mufflers and I let the guy know that if I could hear the difference, I would be sold. A few days later he installed the 50 Deltas on a Z-28 and gave me a call. The owner of the Z was willing to take me for a spin and show off. I returned from the trip, and ordered the 50s right then.

Good luck.

At cruise it sounds like a lion's deep pur, until you open it up then it bites...

I prefer a bad *** Fast Vette, not one that makes noise!

Default Flowmaster Drone

I bought my 94 coupe used, and the former owner had put Flowmasters on it. But I'm not sure if they are 40's or 50's. Is there anyway to tell the difference by looking. I get a LOT of "drone" in the 1800 to 2200 RPM range....right at crusing speed on the freeway. I thought if I did have the 40 series that could be the cause of the resonance, I have heard that the 50 series gets away from this...but still has the great sound. It would be worth the price to switch. comments?
