There has been a local call for convertible owners to volunteer for Homecoming queen candidate hauling. Assuming that the candidates will sit on the top cover hatch, is there a problem and if so what can be done about it?
Thanks in advance.
Done this lots of times before for the local high school and for parades to carry festival queens and their court. Should not be a problem if you are carrying one person and they don't weigh much more than 170 or so. You could cut a 2x4 to fit between the underside of the decklid and the floor of the storage area to provide extra support if you think it might be needed.
Place a towel on the decklid for the person to sit on so you won't get any scratches. And if the slimmie is in a short skirt, adjust the rear-view mirror as necessary.... This is simply for saftey !! You want to know if they are about to fall off.

I might be talked into pulling a trailer with a girl in it...but have someone sitting on my top with her feet on...what? the colsole? the passenger seat? NO WAY!
I'm much too **** for that.
I have a coupe... but I have seen any number of verts do this just fine without a problem.
Okay... this may be dumb, but did you have a vert when you did the parade thing? If not (and you had the coupe), where did the "passengers" sit? (I have to assume the top was off...)

I did this last year. Boy that gal had legs! Long, long legs! Skin as fair as silk! Did I mention she had long legs? ...........
I cut a piece of plywood to fit the passengers seat cushion and wrapped it in a towel for her to stand on and help her boost up onto the halo. Boy did she have long legs!
Then again, Wifey reminded me she was younger than my daughter.
When my C4 was being driven by my mom, before I inherited it, she drove it with Miss Something Or Other sitting on the hatch cover. There was some concern, but they tried it before hand, and there were no problems, and on parade day everything was fine.
Like somebody else said, make sure your cooling fans work, and that all other cooling system components function like they are supposed to.
I did it once and had no problems, two nice young ladies on my rear deck!
One thing though, since my Vette is a 4 speed, my knee sure was tired from the workout it got!
