I would appreciate any feedback on my dilemma. 86 L98 w/ 4+3 trans.
I find it slips badly only in reverse. I can pop start it rolling in reverse. No noticable slipping in forward gears. Doesn't seem to matter whether its cold or up to operating temperature. I am baffled. I can't imagine reverse going through ovredrive unit but it might. Could it be clutch, overdrive, trans?
Sorry I can't offer any advise as to your transmission problem, but I noticed your profile says you are in C'ville as I'm in beautiful Palmyra was wondering if there is someone special you have in the area to work on your Vette. I'm new to the world of Vettes and need to know if there any good mecahanics/shops around.Only experiance I've had so far was Colonial (not bad). Any advise would be extremely helpful
I generally take it to Jim Price Chevy and have a guy named Kevin work on it. It is all he does. He came recommended to me. So far no problems other than the higher price of parts that you usually pay at a dealer. But, they did say that if I purchase parts and bring them in, they would install them for the usual labor fee. I found that quite interesting.
