I have a 92' coupe and since I got it has been having a problem where every once in awhile the car will shut off at stoplights, studder under acceleration and nearly cut off under acceleration. The studder is sometimes constant and sometimes it just bumps once. On hills or at low RPMS it occurs quite frequently. After a few days it will stop doing it and be okay for a few weeks then it starts doing it again for a few days. I had a computer check done on it and the following codes came up:
Code 76 Bad Lateral Accelerometer Signal
Code 62 Tach Pulse Fault
Could be that it's fuel starvation caused by either (1) a clogged filter or (2) a failing fuel pump. If the fuel filter has never been changed, I'd suspect it first.
your first code sounds like a cruise control issue.
the code 62 is kinda suspect.
if i remember correctly someone was trying to identify an unhooked wire which turnd out to be an extra wire for hooking up an external tach.maybe the 92 has one of these taps and yours is shorting?
your symptoms do sound like running out of fuel.(seems like all c4s will buck severely on hard acceleration with low fuel in the tank).
i think you got sound advice on changing the fuel filter first thing.
how many miles on it? you might be having an optispark going bad.
make sure you have good wires/plugs,good fuel pressure to the rail and go from there...
good luck
oh-you should post those codes over in scan and tune, them boys know ALL that kinda stuff and love to help
