I can't believe 100k, I think it depends on the condition and mileage. I know my valve seals need to be replaced because of the start up smoke after it sits for a day or so. I wonder if that causes them to foul?
For a daily driver, I wouldn't touch 'em unless the car starts running rough, or your gas mileage drops significantly.
As for the guy that said changing them under 100k miles is a waste of money, well, he's right if they are still sparking. Some cars may have oil burning or rich running issues that might cause the plugs to start misfiring before 100k. But if they're still firing, replacing them won't gain you a thing.
Those things are a beeyatch to change; you don't want to do it any more than you have to.
Changing plugs is a miserable job to do in my '91. I buy the best I can get - AC Delco Rapid Fires. I just changed them this summer. I'll probably make this a once-ever-three-years kind of task. With my driving style that amounts to about 25000 miles.
The problem with 100,000 plug changes is the gap increases
with every 10k miles of driving. Eventually the gap becomes to big for even todays high energy ignition systems to overcome.
