I've replaced the hoses on my 96 Impala and my 96 Vette, flushed the collant many times. Both FSM's call for pellets, I never use them. No leaks and no clogged heater core. They're nothing but sludge, I understand GM no longer recommends them, but old traditions die hard.

And don't fret the light brown color of the coolant, it's normal with the pellets in the mix, but still check the mix to make sure it's within range.
