Default Replacing shift ****...

I'm sure this has been posted a million times, so sorry in advance but how do you remove the stock shift ****. I have been told by people who own other cars that they just have had to pull, but wanted to make sure there wasn't anything different with vettes. I have an 86 manual.

thanks!

Should be the same for a 91'. Pry up the plastic **** and remove the long clip(don't know what it's called) and then there's a c-clip that's next, then pull **** off.

Do you have the 4+3 with the od button on the top of the shifter ****? On the manual vettes they unscrew, but there a few steps before you get to that part.

Yes, I do have the 4+3 OD button. How do I go about removing that?

first, pop off the button, then pull out the metal wedge. next, there should be a skinny shaft that runs down the length of the shifter (this is what connects the button to the o/d switch), start twisting this shaft until it comes out, now you should be able to unscrew the ****.
