Default sloooooow windows..

what causes windows to roll up and down EXTREMELY slow, and leave light white streaks? It's been like that since i've had the car, but I never really got around to looking at it. Anybody that's had to deal with this before that could give me a hint or two would be greatly appreciated!

The window regulaor style used in the early C4 works pretty slowly, even when working well. When replacement time comes, and it will you can upgrade to the newer design w/o much trouble. They are better in every way.

There is a tech-tip that goes over side window adjustments but doesn't address slow windows. My guess is that the window glass is binding on the anti-rattle clips inside the door. They have a felt covering on them. If you remove the inner door panel you can see the adjustment bolts on the top of the inner door.

What shape is the outer window sweep in? Also the inner window sweep?

Let me know, maybe we can figure this thing out.

Mike.

I'll answer those questions when I get the car back from the shop. I'm trying to get all the answers I can while it's in there so when I get it back I can just spend a day or two fixing all the little things. If it helps it's an 86.

I replaced the broken drivers side regulator (ribbon to be exact) on my 86 with a scissor style from and 87. Centralcoaster had the instructions and vetteblr1 from Sacramento sold me the regulator.

Great people to deal with and if you need any help or assistance feel free to PM or e-mail me. I took tons of pics and have a few suggestions how to make the installation a bit easier.

If/when you replace your regulator assembly please remember one little thing. TAKE YOUR TIME! and everything will be perfect.

Bob

WD-40 twice a year. Spray the tracks well.
