St Augustine Autocross Practice Day
The Corvette Club of Mandarin, Florida will host an open practice day on the St Augustine road course, Saturday 10/9/04 starting at 8:00. It will be a low-speed, closed exhaust event and all NCCC safety requirements apply although this is not a sanctioned event. (Bring your helmet).
This will be a great day to get some seat time particularly for beginners. We have the track for the day and will try to allow everyone as many laps as possible. Laps will be timed for your own records. The cost is $45.00. This is a very good condition road course and not rough on tires or cars.
The event has been opened to other makes so it should be really fun. Early registration or contacting me would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. The way we had it set up a couple weeks ago, on the longest straight your looking at 80 mph tops, but then you're also looking at a sharp approximately 120 degree turn so you will be slowing down rather rapidly, too. After that a series of 180s, then 90s, a short straight then finish. We had the start line on the straight so it was just a drag race to the first turn.
Most of the cars will be stock. We might get a few with performance tires, etc., I have a mod or two myself, but nothing that says a bone stock car won't do well. You're competing against yourself, anyway to improve your own times. We will probably record and post maybe 5 or so runs so everyone can see how they're doing compared to others.
