Glove box console light ???
Alright... I know I've never been accused of being smart... but this one stumps me. I was installing a B&M shifter over the weekend. Everything went fine, but as I was testing eveything to make sure I didn't mess anything up. I plugged up the negative battery cable. The console lid was laying neatly between the seats but in the cargo area. When I started the car I could smell something burning, but wrote it off as the WD40 I sprayed on the exhaust to re-insert the pipes and clamp them. Turns out it was the console light frying the plastic housing. It melted a hole thought the housing, but thankfully did not harm the padding.
Does anyone know why this happened? Does it just get that hot from leaving it one for an extended period of time? And where do I get a replacement?
Thanks all in advance. I'm gonna go sit in a corner with my "special Ed' helmet now.
I put a leather cover on the console this week-end. Took about an hour and had to repair the wires to the light. With the sodering and reinstallation, I killed about an hour. When working on the vette, nothing is easy.
