Default tips on replacing electronic A/C controls....

Im receiving my electronic A/C heater controls for my 87 later this week. I got it off ebay, 69 bucks! My current ones are messed up (physically damaged by prev owner) and I got around to fixing this. I wanted to know what special, if anything, needs to be done prior to and during the replacement of my new controls...Any tips would be helpful

It's pretty easy. Remove most of your dash display cover to get to the center console display cover. Remove. You will see 4 screws holding control unit in. Remove. Pull AC control unit out and unplug. Plug in replacement and reinstall in reverse order. The hardest part- take your time, make sure all hardware is removed before pulling covers- the vette plastic is expensive to replace.

Actually you don't need to remove the dash, simply move it slightly to the left so you can access the two screws holding the center dash bezel.

When installing the bezels use caution to not overtighten the screws as the plastic cracks easily.

Disconnect the battery. If you remove power to the control panel or programmer with it connected, the blower may not work properly and you'll probably get an outside temp reading of -32. When you reconnect, expect a brief blower delay - about 3 minutes - while the assembly learns the position of the temp door.
