I'm very new to modern performance cars let alone Vette's. My 94 is stone stock and wayyyy too quiet for my taste. I don't have alotta $$ to throw around. Do muffler eliminators sound like crap? They are definitley cheap enough.
My 66 Satellite 440 4 speed has 2 1/2's with flow masters and my 70 Chrysler 440 TNT has 3 inch with the single chamber flow masters. That thing is LOUD! I do love it though.
On the LT-1, with the center resonator still in place, muffler elims provide a nice low rumble at idle, louder note under load and at WOT, some resonance at 1,800 rpm but not loud as you may think, or others may have you believe. They sound awesome on the downshift, and compression deceleration. Very mellow bubbly rumble down from higher rpms. If I had to vote, I'd vote to do the elims or do as I did. Cut the mufflers out and have someone weld in some extensions, with the stock LT-1 tips in place. I think it cost $50 or less.
I have to disagree with Andy on this one, they are nowhere near loud enough. Louder than stock and they sound great and the cheapest way to get a good sound.
Here are a few videos so you can hear them inside and out of the car.
Tim, I too have a 94 with a 6 speed. I've had muffler elims on it for over a year and love the way its sounds. I even recieved several compliments on the sound of my car at funfest a few weeks back. I think you'll like them!!
I have them also. Dynamat is under my carpet to tone it down inside. My wife says it's to loud, but I just turn, smile and say "I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE PIPES"

I live down by Mankato. I've got the ellims, with stock cats and resonator. I love it. Planned on going cheap until I showed up at my neighbor's shop and he showed me a set of $160 dual ovat stainless tips. I'll be up in the MSP area next week if you want to stop by and take listen.
I've been running elims for about 6 months and really like them. I have the Hooker Shorties, OEM cats and resonator. I planned on buying the B&B catback system earlier, but I've been having fun with the current set up. I still want the B&Bs and finally there is a GP on them. One thing, make sure the tips extend just a little past the rear of the Vette for reduced resonance.
