Default targa truss

I have a 94 coupe. With the targa top off I have a bad rattle that seems to come from the latch area of the rear glass. I have tried adjusting this numerous times with no luck. has anyone tried a targa truss or does anyone have any other ideas. I like driving it with the top off however the rattle drives me crazy, any ideass, thanks

While I don't have any personal experience with the Targa-Truss, it's supossed to be stronger than the factory targa assembly. I would imagine that in your case it will cure that rear latch rattle.

What a coincidence my '94 also has 24,xxx miles! To be honest I hate the way the car handles with the targa top off so I rarely drive w/o it. From what I remember I had no rattles coming from that area last time I had it off. One thing to check for is the plastic piece around the rear hatch stricker. On mine it was coming off so I replaced the stricker (square shaped piece w/ a hole that attaches to the glass and goes into the latch). I guess it came plastic coated from the factory to reduce any rattles. I just bought the Cross-Brace from R-D Racing and hopefully that will reduce a lot of the flexing w/ the top off. It's a stronger version of the x-brace that the convertible had from factory.

If you want a Targa Truss, I know of someone who is selling one, or you can contact R-D Racing for a brand new one.

thanks yes I would love to get intouch with him, I think that might solve my problem, I have checked everything else and I HATE RATTLES. I also hate the way it handles that is the other reason I don't take it off, however my wife likes the top off so I need to keep her happy so I can continue to enjoy my car, if you know what I mean.

Have you thought about R-D Racing's Cross Frame? Same guys that make the Targa Truss, same price, accomplishes the same thing, except you can't see it when you're sitting in the car....

I only mention this because I wouldn't want to be cruising around with the top off, look up and see this huge black piece of metal obstructing the view

try going around the rear compartment with a screwdriver and tighten all screws.
it cured my rattles and buzzes at 31k miles.
some of the pieces are big and a loose screw over here can cause a rattle over there.
worth a try.
on the cross-brace topic, you need to consider the loss of clearance with it.
it sticks down even further than the vert factory one i guess.
i would like to find a oem vert one personally.
owners of the rd report even though it scrubs on occasion it doesnt really hurt it any....

A harness bar helps as well.

Iv'e got the Cross-Frame and it seems to be at least 90% better than with the roof off. Then I added an S/T frame (roll bar) and now it is realllly stiff.
