Not hard to do but kinda hard to get to and can get a bit messy.
Located back end of car. If you have a lift its easy to see and replace.

fuel filter is located on the passenger side on the frame right next to the catalytic converter.

Easier to change if you can get the car on a lift.

Took me about 20 minutes, with only one knuckle scrape

On my 96 (LT4), if you lay on the ground on the passenger side and look under the door - just next to the frame rail - you'll see the two fuel lines. Follow them forward and up it goes up towards the motor around the RF tire, and you should see a soupcan-sized cylinder. That's it.

Back end of the car?

Nope - it's not there on a LT1. Like others have said - up near the passenger side cat. If you have a convertible you will need to drop the X-Brace first (2 man job).

Make sure you pull the pump fuse or disconnect the battery first. Have a good set of line wrenches on hand. Make sure the car is cool - that cat gets pretty damn hot!

Plan on fuel leaking and running down your arm. Even after you depressurize the sys. So be well ventilated and have something to catch it. The bottom line is easy to get loose but you will have to crow foot the top line and turn the filter from the bottom. Yes those cats get hot so do it when it's cool. Good luck

myself and MY 95 changed my filter earlier this year. We had my car (93) up on ramps and it was a PITA to get the old one out, since gas kept drippin in our eyes. What we did was pull the fuel pump fuse, loosen the gas cap and cranked the engine. It still dripped, but I eventually got it. Thank god I have a tolerance of gas in the eye

here, check out this thread for how it looked...

Vetteweiser covered it perfectly. The fuse----Loosen the gas cap----start the engine etc. Also have a lot of towels ready.

On my '96 the oil pressure switch is also on the fuel pump fuse. Pull it and the engine won't crank. GM engineers had one good good idea: lose oil pressure, lose ignition
