Anybody know what a fair price for a C4 hood repaint would be. About 2 yrs ago I lost a tire weight at 135MPH on the German autobahn, It crashed through the wheel well cover, smacked the under side of the hood and spiderwebed the paint. The local dealer here wants $600.00. Not sure of there quality but thought the price was OK. What do you guys think? They want to remove the hood instead of tape off for overspray.
That's a real good price providing their work is quality. I also agree with their removing the hood! There's no point in risking overspray when you have the option.
Best of luck,
Richard
With a white car their is no reason to blend the color into the doors. Just have the hood painted. There is no reason to go to a dealer for the work. Just go to a good body shop. But the $600 wasnt a bad deal. I would say between $400 and $600 would be good prices for the hood.

$600 does not seem bad. I had my hood, front bumper, and a spot on the rear bumper done for $950. The hood had to be stripped because previous clear coat layer was comming off and I remember him saying that would add some to the price. They did it all on the car and I have some overspray under the front of the hood so removing it would have been nice.
WHITE is more than a reason to blend the paint. With the exception of tri-coats, pearls and other special paints, white is one of the most difficult colors to paint and match. I have been building rods and my Corvette for years. You will want to blend it unless you have someone who can spray a test card and make a 100% match
$750 from 2 good shops in Seattle, glad I didn't do it-it's in the body/paint shop getting new hood, bumper etc. caused by an unisured motorist-about $5000.
Painting a Vette door costs about $400 here so I think anything less than $1000 is ok. Dealers usually use the cheapest painter who makes semidecent paintjobs (the kind layman might not complain most of the time). I would take the hood to a proper painter though.

I don't know, Once the hood is off, it is very difficult to realign.
I can spot a C4 that has been in an accident miles away.
