i've been a member of this forum for about a week and i love it here.so i thought i would say hi to you all and tell alittle about myself.i'm 34 yo live in upstate ny and just bought my first (of many) corvettes about a month ago. it's an 84 with a 4 speed stick (don't know why gm would think of putting an auto in one of these)i posted a pic in the photo section.i have found this forum to be both informative and very funny.see you all around and i'll be

Welcome, but you will find out why GM put so many autos in when you have problems with that 4+3 trans....it's known for giving big trouble.

still wouldn't trade it for an auto though sports cars are meant to be shifted

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new Vette. 
BTW, the real reason GM put A4s in these cars is for us bracket racers; they put the sticks in there for you guys who would rather row through the gears.

Newbie, You opened up a hornets nest with the A4 comment
As you will find out soon and over time why the General put A4s in his vettes. The A4s hold together real well and tend to be faster in the 1/4 mile than the 4+3 stick. More comments to come, I'm sure. And welcome aboard.

That's what happened to me, so I'm happy with my auto (it's a Corvette no matter how the gears shift!!)
