I am doing a head gasket on a 1986 Shelby Charger (2.2 Turbo with a bunch of mods.)
Anyway I take the head in to get it pressure tested and resurfaced.
I get to talking to the guy about the Vette, he is Ford guy. He says I had an 86, with a 305 tpi, 5 speed (He also said it was crap). Tells me a story about a tick he had while driving down, he said it was the speedo needle bouncing of the the peg at the end... He didn't realize how fast he was going. Hard to do with a digital dash . I picked up the head turned around and walked away without saying a word. Turns out I cleaned the head when I got home and it was cracked. Time to upgrade. Why oh why do stupid people have to talk.
I have a dozen stories about "local machine shops" from over the years - both persoanally and about my friends cars - and is why I have decided to not ever use local again - I found that a set of heads for my old mopar from Racing Head Svc. (RHS) In Memphis was a better route - I am sorry, I do not trust the local guys in my area - they were all semmingly full of it - This is why the "Big Boys" earn & keep your trust on a project for an engine - places that will sell you a top end kit or complete engine package -
