Chances are the headlight motor is ok, and the problem is the nylon bushings have disintegrated.

Call Corvette Clinic on S. Shields. He's pretty good, and reasonable too.
Also, Vette2Vette is really reasonable.

If you need any more info, feel free to call me. 850-4323

Default Fix it yourself

There is probable at least 1 posting in the archives on how to fix the motor yourself. If not this forum will help you do it. I say this because when looking at Mid America Motorworks or other catalogs on the C4 I see they all have the bushings and replacement gears for your headlight motor. Without knowing what all you need I'd still bet you wouldn't have $100 in it if you bought all the parts available used what you needed and stored the rest untill next time This off course assumes you are able to do some work yourself. Like opening a can of beans Good Luck and let us know what you did that's how we learn. :

Order the bushings from Mid America Motorworks (MAM) or Eckler's ($10) and do the labor yourself. It's really not too hard at all, takes the better part of a Saturday or Sunday...

Here are the installation instructions...

be sure it's the motor first of all. It's rare that it is. As others have said it is usually the bushings that go bad not the motor.

David, follow the link posted by "ONEDEF92", I just replaced the passenger side with nylon bushings purchased from Mid America. At $4.95 it is the least and best possible fix for your time and money. The job took me about 2 hours taking my time and, get this now, without any hitches. Smoooooth!
Hope your job goes as easy as mine.
