there seems to be a lot of talk about the market falling out of the c4 pricing. all of sudden, basic c4's are in the low teens, and under 10k for excellent condition corvettes. i see even mint condition cars not getting any respect. obviously the economy has something to do with it. as maybe the c6 having an effect of c5 prices dropping, and on down the line. it is very much a buyers market. i don't consider my car an investment, i drive it because i love it. but lets face it, we want to know our cars are worth something monetary also. so why are WE selling our cars at such a low price. corvette owners control the market. my car is a mint condition '95 dark red 6sp. i would never sell it for a mere 16k or less. to me that is almost insulting. ebay and bidding websites to me is a very strong reason why our cars are worth less. i would never consider selling mine for less than 17,5k. so i guess i ain't selling. any other thoughts anyone has as to why corvette owners are selling their cars so cheap? a beat car i can understand... but excellent to mint..... wow.
They sell so cheap because there is not a big demand for them. A 25-30,000 Corvettes being made a year for the last 15 years there is more Corvettes for sale than there are people looking to buy. So the longer it takes to sell the lower the prices go. It the old supply and demand principal. More supply than demand and prices drop...

yes ..the supply and demand theory is really affecting pricing I have seen c4's (84-87) pricing from 4k to 6k for a fair condition car just spoke with a person in mich. who was selling 87 vert with some minor work needed for 4500.00 ....a big buyers market but hold on and get the price you feel comfortable with good luck

I guess we could ask anything we wanted, but "sold" means someone gave you the money. And if people aren't willing to pay an amount for something, then you can't sell it for that. Keep in mind, sentimental value means nothing to a buyer.
There are very few sellers markets anywhere and there aren't many even in the vette world, from C1 through C5.
I feel the same way - I paid (what would be considered NOW) good money for my '95 - Plus what I've put into it.. I wouldn't let it go too cheap... Not to mention, I wouldn't consider selling right before the winter... It's the time to BUY, but not sell.
I won't give mine away it's a 95 vert optioned out and with my fav option the 3.07 gears. I think 18.5k for the miles 33k..and the cond of the car is fair.
I don't buy this all c4's are in the low teens crap.
Well, just think... you could have uinvested that $$$$ into a car that wasn't a Vette and that car would be truly worthless in 4 years. I mean, I don't see a huge demand for 8 year old Pontiac Grand Prix cars!!! But... that Vette will still be a Vette long after the sale. Be happy you got one. Now go drive the wheels off it!
Seems theyre only worth what were willing to pay. The guy I bought mine from went on and on about how "special" it was, quoting 15 year old performance figures, etc. Was only worth 5K to me. Vettes are vettes, but theres only a million of them. Spotted an immaculate Silver 96 Black leather/auto. This car looked PERFECT.Asking 12,900?! Bet it could have been had for 10-11K. Too bad I just bought my 89. Regardless, I feel fortunate just to have one!
