Default holy crap, how much....?

i had a new windshield put in today.....the windshield was only 180.00 bucks, i was like cool.....then the tech came back in the waiting room and said the rubber around the window needs to be replaced.....he said they epoxy them in so they dont leak around the sides and the top, so im like ok get with it, and hurry, its a sunny day i wanna drive my car, .....he says well the rubber stripping is 280.00 bucks, it used to be 400.00 but now we can order them, where it used to be a dealer part.....just then i woke to smelling salts and remember staring at the ceiling from passing out.....i was like 280.00, thats more than the glass he said i know, but its cheaper than it used to be for these cars, he said and we'll put it on so it can be removed if u ever have to fix the glass again, im like damn it....i thought my harleys were expensive, this is a harley on 4 wheels.....need less to say 500.00 bucks later i can see clearly now.....but they left my car dusty.....i hate a dirty dash in these things.....oh well

I guess there are some benefits to having glass coverage on the insurance policy. Had mine done with new weatherstrip for $0.00.

Florida Law... If you have full coverage Insurance, They have to cover 1 windshield per year with ZERO deductable!!! and your rates can NOT go up for it.

Kfury3-thanks, I needed that. Yep, $500 is what it cost me-glass and rubber. Just make sure they use OEM rubber-or you'll both probably be sorry! ask me how I know.

I own an auto glass company and that is the way it works with crap companies. You got hooked.

The weather stripping should be replaced every time. They run 200 bucks and you have to use GM.

The other thing is these are no easy car to do. The way Chevy designed this windshield instalation sucks. Total PITA.

If I ever have to do another C4 it will be too soon.

I paid $180 from Glass emporium for Glass and rubber I think you got ripped. But 3 days after they installed it I pulled my car on the lawn to wash it and the flexing caused the glass to crack right down the middle. But they ixed it for free

$180 + $280...yep, that's just about what it cost to have mine replaced last month. I watched the tech do the install and there's just about no way to remove the windshield without destroying the original rubber seal.

Around $400-$500 is what I paid a few years ago for OEM glass and rubber installed but there was no "sticker shock" as I expected it to come to that.

Bought my first 'Vette last Wednesday a beautiful red '85. Got a great deal the seller jumped at my offer to replace the windshield at my cost - he unilaterally dropped the price $500. Hot deal my glass guy says factory quality replacement will cost $270 installed.

Oops! :o 'Vette Rookie starts whining when removing the 20 year old rubber.

Oh sh**! 10" of rust on the driver-side pillar. Full frontal blast with goggles on rushing from body shop to body shop. I need it fixed now!!!!! Rain on the way.

What new rubber? What you're in over your head? Internet searches and $285 plus shipping? What the GM dealer says get lost your '85 is too old?

Darn glad I'm not the only lucky one! (LOL)

$270.00 Glass
$235.00 Rubber (if the 'Vette guy comes through)
$200.00 Body Work (what a nice job, most wanted $400 and 2 wks)

In process. I'll let you know how it ends.
