Just wondering, do you stick shift guys out there flatshift your cars when you are at the dragstrip. I just got my car, don't know if it can be manhandled that way. Has anybody installed the short shif arms to reduce shifter throw? How do you like them?
but it sounds like he is referring to powershifting or shifting w/o letting off the gas, (correct me if I am wrong). Mine has 106,000 mi on it and I have not had it to the strip. I do not powershift it, but I have done so with other cars.
Mr Mojo is good on keeping it punched until after the finish line. That guy is one smooth shifter There's an in car vid of his run in the six speed.
Maybe he'll chime in.
I used to shift like that in my 460 hp 5 speed stang. Launching at 5900 rpm on a stuck track with slicks felt like an 18 wheeler rear ended me on launch! What fun that was!
assuming flat shifting is the same as powershifting (100% throttle, even during clutch shifting, as define by mr mojo), then yes, you can and should do it.
I just learned about it a few weeks back, and it's the only way to shift fast (kicks the ASR on between 2nd and 3rd, that means I should turn ASR off).
