Default 96 Brake question

My wife and I finally stopped by my neighbor's house up the street who owns a 96 Collectors Edition. Nice Vette. Any way, we were talking and comparing our vettes. He noticed that on my brake calipers that they did not say "corvette" on them like they do on his. The only conclusion that we could come up with is that they did this on the CE as a cosmetic thing. Any advice would be nice to hear. I also told him about the forum. Hopefully he will join. This is his fourth Corvette.

thanks, Dan

Were they black, too? If so, I thought they were only on Grand Sports. Perhaps someone has installed them on his car or CEs had an unpainted version.

The front calipers on Grandsports and CE's are black powdercoat with corvette lettering. They are a slightly different casting that is a little stronger than the 'normal' one used on other 96's and 95's, but they share the same pad and rotor dimensions as well as mounting brackets.

The rears are exactly the same casting between the different models, just black powdercoated on the GS's and CE's.
