For a couple of years, I only drove 5 miles to work each day. The miles didn't rack up very quick and traffic was not an issue.
For the past year, I've been driving 40 miles one-way to work, from Fort Worth to North Dallas, through crappy traffic. This car has not missed a beat except a dead battery when the weather got real cold and that was my fault for buying her a cheap battery!
The daily commute is taking it's toll on this car, she's going to need a new tranny soon as the tcc doesn't engage anymore... but everyday it starts right up without a fuss and gets me to work and back.
