I'm in the same boat, for both vettes and my truck, I'm paying around $3700, my truck and one vette have comp/coll, but I'm about to drop the comp/coll on the other vette, that will only save me $600, but if I invest it wisely, I'll make out better.
Besides if I wreck my own car(collision) it's my own damn fault and why have the insurance company pay and then raise my rates?
If someone steals or vandalizes my car, well I won't need insurance because I will kill the person responsible and in prison you can't drive.
Also, I have a lot of friends and connections, so I can have my cars repaired relatively cheap.
I am seriously considering Hagerty or Grundy since I have the two vettes and I think that may constitute a collection which makes me eligible, just got to find a way to disquise the race car.
Wow $1,200 year per car? Sounds like Los Angeles, Newark NJ, Camden Nj, all have high auto theft rates.
Move to the boonies and your rates will go down.
We pay for what everybody else does its the American way punish the honest folks for what the criminals do. The crooks can't/wont pay so we do.

Don't even THINK of the words "race car" when talking to Hagerty or Grundy!!! They won't insure you if they hear that you EVER raced the car.

I already live in the boonies... just outside of West Palm Beach. I also have the car listed as pleasure use only. I am pretty sure I am going to drop the full coverage on the car and take my chances.

dude... you need to move outta PBC... that's all there is to it.
You are getting screwed by these people. And badly. They are zinging you for the sins of others. That is beyond insane.
Check with Hagarty and a few other of the "specialty" car insurers. Do you have a garage? That will help a lot with them. They sometimes limit your mileage, to say 5000/year, do you drive more?
I would not lower coverage, that's asking for problems, you have too many uninsured drivers in SoFL as it is (foreign nationals and such) that it makes you a sitting duck for disaster.
Here in LA, auto insurance is MUCH cheaper than your paying - a hell of a lot cheaper.

I need both of my pickups because they are work trucks and make all the money. I will not get rid of the vette but I may need to lower the coverage.
This years bill is... $4097.00 per year If I pay them all at once it will drop to $3609.00 for the year
I have full coverage on my 2003 GMC which I need (financed)
I have just Comp on my 1989 GMC (min coverage)
I have comp and collision on the vette.
If I drop the full coverage on the vette and make it comp only I will drop the price down to $3112.00 per year if paid in full. If I drop the full coverage on the vette I lose theft coverage as well. What do you guys think?
Normally if something happens to the car other than major I prob would not report it and fix it myself. On the other hand what happens if the car is stolen? How often do you guy hear of an aerage C4 getting stolen.
What do you guys think? What would you do?
What is your deductible? You can increase that to $500 to $1000, that'll take a chomp out of the total.

You said: if something would happen to the car I would probably fix it myself. Get an estimate of what a $1000 deductible would run you. Do you really need both trucks or is it a spare?
With 4 vehicles and a <1 year driver on my insurance, I pay $218.00 a mo. I have partial insurance on one because I'm painting it in a garage. That also includes insurance for the contents of my home and is thru an agent, which adds more. I have no good driver discount because of new driver. I'm covered up to $500,000 w/a $500 deductible. I was going to pay ~$300 mo. with less coverage and a $200 deductible. It does make a difference.
You guys would love my shop... I had it built in Feb this year its 1800 square feet on the ground floor with 2 bath rooms and if I put the second floor in it could go to 3600 square feet. My house is only 1500 square feet
Have you considered taking a higher deductible on all the vehicles? You might be able to save some $ there, and only shell it back out if you have a claim. Have you found out what the insurance company values you vette at? If their value is lower than you think it should be, then you want to get an appraisal they will honor before anything happens. Lastly, do you have the right to appeal the insurance company's surcharge for the rear-ender? In Mass, those dastardly surcharges are assessed by a state-run board, they give you a chance to appeal, and I've seen surcharges removed more than once.
